FCCQ Offices by Folio Design

Folio Design’s FCCQ Offices in Montreal seamlessly blends openness and functionality, creating a vibrant workspace that celebrates Québec’s identity while fostering collaboration and community engagement through thoughtful design and local artistry.

FCCQ is a nonprofit organization, uniting all the chambers of commerce across Québec and aims to promote local businesses in every region. Although its offices are located in the greater Montreal area, the organization sought to create a distinct identity from the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal, while highlighting the strength of Québec’s business community.

To ensure accessibility and visibility, a ground-floor space at 1100 Robert-Bourassa Boulevard in downtown Montreal was chosen—right in the heart of the business district. This location makes it easily accessible for members and reflects the organization’s values of openness and community, in contrast to the more exclusive nature of upper-floor offices.

The new headquarters is designed to be flexible and welcoming for both the organization’s staff and members. The space features high ceilings and large windows overlooking the busy street, creating a vibrant atmosphere. It includes a thoughtfully planned layout with quiet areas for focused work and open zones that encourage collaboration and social interaction. The entrance area, called “L’Espace des Régions,” serves as a multifunctional hub for meetings, networking events, and press conferences.

Art plays a central role in the space’s identity. Artist Beige Fluo contributed five works throughout the office, including a large mural in the main gathering area. This artwork showcases the diversity of Québec’s regions through different textures and colors which visually connects various areas using the artist’s signature calligraphic style.

Another notable piece is featured in the bistro area and echoes the same visual language, while additional designs appear in meeting areas and on wooden slats in the open workspace, blending art with architecture.
Design firm Folio Design emphasized flexibility, local craftsmanship, and materials. Locally made or custom furniture, extensive use of wood (a symbol of Québec’s maple heritage), and the color blue—all referencing provincial identity—strengthen the space’s cultural ties.

The design contrasts more colorful, dynamic collaborative zones with calmer, monochromatic individual workspaces, all bathed in natural light. This thoughtful zoning allows users to choose the environment best suited to their tasks.

Ultimately, the project redefines the traditional office layout by merging public and private uses in a welcoming, shared environment. It invites employees to be present and engaged, reinforcing the values of openness, community, and creativity. The result is a vibrant, versatile space that celebrates Québec’s identity and supports its business network with pride.
