Aesop shop-in-shop

Resonating well with a young and in-the-know demographic, it’s no surprise Aesop has rooted well in Bangkok‘s fast-evolving retail landscape. As of late, the Australian cosmetics brand has inaugurated a fourth downtown outpost, situated on the premises of Central Chidlom, one of the branches of the leading Thai department store chain. Designed by the brand’s in-house design team in Melbourne, the setting takes cues from the curved silhouettes of traditional Thai roofs. Mind you, they’re constructed in two layers with enamelled tiles supported by wooden frames and trusses, and this has been translated into the chosen bamboo-infused aesthetic. Usually hidden beneath tiles, the bamboo supports literally surface here, albeit transformed, and becoming the star element of the design, cladding a large part of the shop-in-shop’s large standalone terraced display table and an equally sizeable shelving unit, both laden with Aesop products. The counter comes with a sleek 1970s desk lamp. The new Aesop shop-in-shop carries the full range of skin, hair and body products. © superfuture
