Café Nuances by Crosby Studios

In some countries, coffee is big, big deal, and obviously, given its huge gastronomic legacy, that includes France. Founded in 2021 by Charles and Raphaël Corrot, a fraternal duo who spent many years stateside studying, and while there, totally indulged in the vibrant coffee culture there. The young entrepreneurs have shaken up the coffee scene in their hometown Paris with a growing number of design-led coffee parlours, all paired with innovative offerings that resonate especially well with a demographic of savvy consumers. Called Café Nuances, the chain has recently inaugurated a fourth outpost in the city’s achingly fashionable Marais district. Occupying what seems a hole in the wall – it’s quite compact indeed – the space is actually situated on the ground floor of a five-storey residential building erected in the mid-1950s.

The interior design, created by Crosby Studios, a forward architecture and design practice based in the French capital and New York City, offers a stark contrast with the building’s limestone façade. Here, stainless steel rules gloriously, captured not only by large panels covering the side walls and ceiling, but also by the furnishings. Mind you, the service counter front and some seating cubes are adorned with crushed metal pieces which further elevates the spatial experience. The back of the café is entirely lit, in bright orange, to be precise, boosting the café’s futuristic yet warm vibe. The menu at Café Nuances lists various coffee concoctions, including all classics, obviously, and also special flavour lattes, matcha options, and of course, a matching range of pastries. © superfuture
