As the splendour of Rome continues to pull an increasing number of visitors to its doorstep, and for those with a penchant for cool urban living, there’s an alluring new option where to lay one’s head. We’re talking the newly opened art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio in the residential downtown neighbourhood of Sallustiano, situated only a few blocks away from the lush grounds of Villa Borghese. Similar to other art’otel properties across Europe, the new Roman outpost features an interior design collaboration of designer Eyal Shoan of the Digital Space practice with a leading contemporary artist, and here, it’s none other than Pietro Ruffo whose works, all inspired by Rome‘s rich historic layers, grace the entire premises. Mind you, Ruffo has collaborated with iconic fashion houses Dior and Valentino, and also the Vatican Apostolic Library, and this art’otel is home to the largest permanent collection of the artist’s work to date.
The property features 99 rooms and suites, and those picking the latter accommodation are in for an dazzling visual treat. The eleven suites are infused with Ruffo’s artworks, and come with sunny terraces with zodiac sign floor motifs. Adding to the sense of La dolce vita while in Rome, art’otel offers top-notch facilities where guests can fully disconnect and indulge their senses. An urge to splurge? Well, the Masterpiece Suite is readily available. At 52 sqm. (560 sq.ft.) is the biggest in the house, and comes with a large lounge area, an equally sizeable private terrace, and a set of alluring perks such as Kevin Murphy amenities, a Roberts radio, a Dyson hairdryer and access to the gym, sauna and art gallery. The pan-Asian YEZI restaurant and bar concept was first introduced at the hotel chain’s Zagreb property, and now, sees a sister establishment in the Italian capital.
Welcoming and stylish, the venue offers a fine-dining experience which takes ample cues from traditional Asian tea house culture, featuring a menu of intricate Asian flavours, captured not only by a wide range of delectable dishes, but also signature cocktails which have been inspired by ancient spice routes to the Eternal City. The restaurant setting is modern and welcoming, and obviously, a number of Ruffo’s artworks can also be found here, elevating the dining experience. And while YEZI is first and foremost about refined cuisine, the dining establishment knows a thing or two about keeping its clientele mesmerised until the wee little hours with a curated DJ lineup. And that’s not all. A large ground floor terrace designed is open all day for lunch, aperitivo and dinner.
Given art’otel‘s inextricable connection to the arts, an exclusive gallery space can be found on the premises, and unsurprisingly, the inaugural show, entitled Mappare l’invisibile, is by Ruffo, featuring a series of large canvases. The paintings represent a visual dialogue that interweaves man, nature and the universe, stimulating a renewed vision of the environment, confronting mankind with the challenges and potential of change. To balance out all that good life, guests can make use of a sleek, full-fledged gym with the latest equipment to work up some sweat. Last but not least, and perhaps a tad unlikely to some, art’otel Rome Piazza Sallustio is a place where to get work done. We’re talking a series of so-called flexible, creative spaces which are able to accommodate a wide variety of events for both small and bigger audiences. © superfuture
