The US embassy in Moscow put a warning on its website Saturday, alerting US citizens of “a credible threat of a mass casualty event” at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve in Moscow. The palace museum and large park reserve are 10 miles from the Kremlin.
Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) said it followed the warning from US officials and detained a teenage boy on suspicion of planning a terrorist attack, reports Bloomberg.
The Russian state-run news agency Tass reported that the teenager had been posting videos on TikTok holding an automatic weapon while wearing tactical gear and a balaclava. He simultaneously posted photos of the Tsaritsyno with the caption “I found a place.” According to the FSB, the teenager was engaging with neo-Nazi content on Telegram and had made a “significant number of search queries regarding past terrorist acts, mass murders, and other violent acts.”

As a result of the threat, scheduled events at the museum were canceled and tight security measures were put in place. Baza, the Russian investigative Telegram channel, reported that the venue was evacuated on Saturday, cutting an organ concert short with about 10 minutes left, as well as canceling a concert dedicated to folk traditions of the North Caucasus region.
“The above-mentioned items of clothing and accessories were found at the detainee’s residence, and his communications devices contained a TikTok account used to post threats, a subscription to a neo-Nazi channel on the Telegram messenger,” the FSB said in a statement. “We are grateful to the American side for the information provided.”
