In full retail expansion mode, VEJA has opened a new standalone store in Copenhagen‘s historic city centre. The Paris-based sustainable sneaker brand has secured a lofty, 165 sqm. (1,776 sq.ft.) space on the ground floor of a landmark structure built around 1730 by Danish architect Gotfrid Schuster. For the interior design, VEJA tapped architect Nikolaj Lorentz Mentze of local practice STUDIO 0405 to create a fitting interior design. Clean and understated, the setting sees a backdrop of pristine white walls and ceiling, paired with concrete flooring. Furnishings are few and simple, comprising custom-made wooden seating, a variety of displays, alternated by concrete-coloured equivalents, a sales counter, and even timber-encased speakers. Recessed shelving offers additional display space, while sneakers are even showcased on the back wall using subtly protruding sticks. Thanks to its corner location, no less than eight floor-to-ceiling windows not only allow passers-by ample peeks of the interior, but also allow in floods of daylight. The new VEJA store carries the brand’s full range of men’s, women’s and kids’ shoes, accessories and bags. © superfuture
