KOI Restaurant at The Dubai Mall captures the essence of Chinese culture through clear geometry, natural materials, and calm atmosphere. Designed by Algedra, the interior takes inspiration from the koi fish, a symbol of perseverance and prosperity, using its movement as a guide for spatial rhythm and flow.
The layout transitions from a narrow entrance into an open dining area centered around a circular marble bar. Seating areas alternate between open and private zones, offering visual connection without crowding the space. Materials such as marble, walnut, brass, and linen create balance between weight and softness.
Lighting is integrated within the architecture to emphasize structure and warmth. A circular aquarium near the bar reinforces the project’s symbolic focus, introducing gentle movement into the interior.
KOI presents a modern interpretation of Chinese dining that values proportion, clarity, and atmosphere. Through its disciplined material palette and spatial flow, the restaurant offers a setting that feels grounded, tranquil, and connected to its cultural story.
