RAINS store by Stamuli

Outerwear brand RAINS has inaugurated a second store in Amsterdam‘s historic Canal District. The Danish company has secured a lofty, 123 sqm. (1,324 sq.ft.) unit on the ground floor of a building which was originally erected in 1738. The opening marks the debut of a global retail concept developed alongside Stockholm-based architecture practice Stamuli. The design concept introduces a new look and feel alongside a vision to evolve alongside the brand. The launch of the store design concept coincides with RAINS’ expansion into new categories, including homeware, underscoring its role as a one-stop destination to cater for a contemporary urban lifestyle. The design codes aim to reflect the dualities of RAINS, being urban industrial and outdoor, through contrasts of futuristic elements and clean, minimal structures. A grid of tiled flooring is replicated by two columns and alternated by stuccoed walls, but also by furnishings, notably a series of sleek, grid-patterned metal displays which anchor the setting. The displays are flanked on either side by matching clothing displays and shelving units. Skylight-inspired LED installations not only align the store with modern technology, but also create the feeling of an ever-changing sky. The new RAINS store carries men’s and women’s outerwear, accessories, bags and homeware. © superfuture
